Life and career
MattyB resides in Atlanta, Georgia. He takes voice lessons from the same person who taught Justin Bieber and Usher. His family has a recording studio in their house.[2]His videos have predominantly been promulgated on YouTube where he has (as of December 2012) over 100 videos, nearly 400 million total views and more than 850,000 subscribers. His most popular video, a parody of "Call Me Maybe", has over 50 million views, and more than 50 of his videos have at least 1 million views.[3] He uses his Facebook page and Twitter account to communicate with his fans. MattyB's manager is Blake Sr., his father.
Matty B began to distribute his videos on YouTube in 2010, with his first remix, "Eenie Meenie", getting 500,000 views in his first week.[1] He has covered, remixed and parodied popular songs, such as Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby," LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" and Lady Gaga's "Born This Way".[1] He has also created some original songs, including "The Royal Wedding Song", "Sugar Sugar", "Be Right There", "That's The Way", "Forever and Always", and "That Girl Is Mine". His 2012 single "That's The Way" debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard Social 50 in October.[1]
Family
MattyB has two older brothers, Joshua (Jeebs) and Blake Jr. Joshua also has a popular YouTube channel, JeebsTV, which has (as of December 2012) over 53,000 subscribers and over 10 million video views. MattyB also has a younger sister, Sarah Grace, who was born with Down Syndrome.MattyB's older cousin, Marshall Manning (Mars), helped inspire him to become a rapper. Marshall is himself a rapper, writer, and producer whose YouTube channel, MarsRaps | Mars Music Studios, has (as of December 2012) over 182,000 subscribers and over 15 million views.
